Empowerment Through Sport is thrilled to announce our partnership with Pappa’s Artisinal as part of next week’s ETSLS-LA conference  at the University of La Verne.  Pappa’s will be the official food provider of the event, catering breakfast, lunch and the ever-popular smoothie bar, for conference attendees.

Since opening on July 15, Pappas Artisanal at 2232 D. Street in old town La Verne, has attracted a steady stream of community support impressed by the simple menu of salads and wood-fired rotisserie sandwiches and the shop’s inviting, open décor highlighted by brick, exposed beams and eclectic furnishings ranging from a 1920s barn-wood table and reclaimed school desk to a floor-toceiling chalkboard and an Apple TV.

Aside from their success in the kitchen, Pappa’s has generated a lot of buzz around their work in the community. Owner, Matt Fong, has been referred to as “a capitalist with a conscience and an entrepreneur with an edge” and with the support of co-owner and chef, Travis Flood, Pappa’s has designed an incubator-type work environment for their employees and classroom for their local residents with the goal of teaching business skills which are requisite in any work environment.
